This music always made her feel great before she went into “an intense martial situation.” the titles of the music she chose to listen to in her ‘war’ loop this time was “ The Duke Of Earl “, “ Layla” and of course one of her favorites “ Wild Boys”.

The rays of the setting sun proclaimed the beautiful shimmering waves as the ocean roared, caressing the startled shore. The sea oat-like vegetation swayed in the off shore breeze, while the shoreline fowl floated in the mist upon invisible currents. All was silent now. Except for the inaudible, low whine of aircraft motors slowly ceasing to operate, while camo uniformed warriors disembarked from armored personnel, vertical takeoff and landing ships. These ships were known to these dogs of war as V-220’s. Each ship sat comfortably in a massive bowl between five towering sand dunes. The last of seven totally silent running airships landed, expelling volumes of sand about, creating its own crater.

The 22nd Consortium Triumvirate possessed four ultra, elite ground fighting forces at their finger tips. Now on a beach 47 minutes away from the kill zone of their objective, this legion awaited final directives. Forty warriors of the Augtouke Dragon Vindicators just arrived in their chariots of war. This particular unit is from a series of planets, in a star system of three water worlds. They are the best, from the 1st Amphibious Division, H&S Battalion, 7th Recon Clan, attached to the 1st Galaxy Imperial Forces, stationed at RB (Raider Base) Zega. Efforting to prepare for this last ground briefing, each female and male combatant toiled busily, anticipating ‘the word’ to be passed, while speaking in low tones – except for the last two individuals, strolling out the rear of the lead V-220 personnel carrier.

The much, much shorter of the two speaks first, through pursed whispering lips, “What’s the deal? What did you hear?” The taller of the two, keeps walking to the front of the airship, examining the spin cannon mounted on the nose of the vehicle. “Keep calm, “ demands Tech Sgt. Alls motioning with his hands for quiet, from his buddy. “ I am calm. Did everything change?, ” inquired 1st Sgt. Yozape. “ Kinda sorta. But not really. We still have to get the President.” They moved toward the rear of the V-220 to join their comrades. Reminding his vertically challenged companion, “ You know the deal. They got to tell us. 3rd Sgt. Major Tothon got the intel. Now we got it ,” pointing to the board set up in the middle of the expansive sand bowl being put together. A female warrior with attractive close, cropped green hair walked by, giving the little guy a wink. Tech Sgt. Alls ask, “What’s that all about?” “Don’t ask. I’ll never tell.” responded the diminutive fighter.

Both men laughed briefly, “I’ve got a bet for ya.” “What?” “I bet the 3rdSM Tothon, gets us all to laugh before we leave here.” “I bet he doesn’t. Didn’t do it last time.” “I bet he does this time.” “I’ll take you for $10 on this one.” “I don’t want to bet.” “Why?” “I do not want to take your money.” “Why not?” By this time, as they walked closer to the deployment in the bowl discussion area, a few of their fellow fighters listened in. “ I’ll do it!” relented Alls as Yozape smiled, reaching into his side leg camo pants pocket, producing the monies. A warrior walked up, “I’ll take care of this. “ This young man usually held the bet money for everyone in the Dragon platoon all the time, at interesting moments like these.

1st Sgt Darcquone Yozape’s small stature hid his significant talents, but not his extraordinary muscular powerful frame. His forefathers of long , long ago were obviously of reptilian descent. They took the fork in the road to ascendancy as four foot high leaping lizards to their present form. In the environments of his home star system, the attribute of his creamy red tinted skin, glistening in the exposed portions of his camo fighting suit, no doubt contributed as eons passed, to the success of his species. Yozape’s shocking blue irises in his sizable eyes, dilated back and forth with excitement, as he continued to hound his best friend, Tech Sgt. Vovoxoc Alls.

The good Tech Sgt., clearly listened as usual with unfaltering compassion, to his short friend. To his friends throughout the Dragon Corps, he responded kindly to being called “Big V.” Big V truly resembled a giant squirrel, with two gargantuan fingers and an elongated thumb on each hand. He sported a very thick, obviously ‘bobbed’ hairy tail. which featured several pipe-like metal rings with a sharp coned point at the end. His potent tail lay limp for now, but many an Augtouke Dragons would confess in a bar over a couple of cold brews, his tail had saved his hide more than once or twice before.

The Augtouke Dragons took their name for the planet where real dragons live! On the planet called Lirybor….. there be dragons of all sorts. The most fearsome of these live in the Augtouke mountain range on the planet. Some of the species found on Lirybor can fly. Many others can not. Some are vegetarian, many others are not. Some breathe fire and or venom when agitated. Some others don’t. Some are just plain old typical serious dragons. Some are not. Some are as docile as the day is long. Some are not. Whether tamed, feral or down in the woods, on the great plains or swimming in the cool waters or “eat your ass, “ kinda dragons, as the residents of the planet classify them; the trihumaniod warriors fighting style emulates the fearsome weapons of their awesome mascots.

These Augtouke warrior specialist preferred military occupations in the deadly arts, which the dragons that live on planet Lirybor have relied upon for eons.

It is probably best to discuss the awesome killing virtues of the dragon from the tail up to their head. First their tails which provide them with balance and grace, especially during swift movements are powerful weapons. The tail sweeps along the ground knocking all things about or pound down on the surface of the earth with crushing force. Some dragons possess spiked tails or massive club-like growths at the end of their tails. Rear legs are pillars of muscle with flesh rendering claws. The power in these hind or forelegs legs enables the dragon to stand up or spring into the air. Should the dragon be fortunate to have the gift of flight, it wings present more problems for its adversaries. Aside from attacks from above, the movement of the wings produce immense clouds of dust. Not to mention should a dragon open its wings in full on the ground, a hind leg or foreleg could reach out and thresh its victim into unrecognizable pieces. The head of the dragon is another whole set of dilemmas to deal with…. fire, venom or the fangs. Pick one. Hopefully, the dragon an unfortunate person, animal or thing has to encounter, does not have the full package!

There are four different weapons styles, the Augtouke Dragons train for; fang and claw, fire, tail and wind with the last style of destruction - wings. The fang and claw members are edge weapons warriors; utilizing the freshest techno preferred types of knives, swords – long, short or broad, claw hand war gloves or gauntlets, for that close in work of hand to hand combat.

The fire specialist achieve their quotas of death, by spreading fire on desired targets or applying venom-like gels on their enemies or their fortified positions in whatever method which provides a positive outcome of destruction by fire or the agony of flesh melting goo. In situations of urban warfare, these thanes of fire excelled in flushing their enemies from hiding. It was said among the Augtouke Dragon soldiers across the board, that those who chose this form of tactics, even though they originated from various star systems, proved to be very inventive. And it was always interesting to see, what genus of humanoid soldiers, desired to be employed to this type of military occupational specialty. These people are wired different!

Then there are the males and females of the wind and tail group. They gear up for destruction with clouds of smoke blinding foes, creating confusion, throwing flash and or concussion grenades into the fray. Then these units move in and about in the mist, relieving the enemy from the pressures of their present life style. The wing crew of the Augtouke Dragons actually fly from above swooping in, shooting their targets with short stock carbines.

Foremost, it is understood, that all Dragons are expert snipers, hand to hand combat elites and riflemen.

WOW! How many psyche evals are done at the Augtouke Dragons batallion HQ’s each day?
Where do the recruits of the Augtouke Dragons come from?

Mac spoke an intensity Dr. Rense could appreciate, “This last portion discusses the significance of the letter “A”. Mac continued, ‘ This part of her prime directive, permits Anna 7 to be the Aggressor. Mac chose to read this section word for word, to Dr. Rense, And I quote, ‘ exercising extreme force is licensed, to render ineffective by counterbalancing either by modification or destruction, any entities which undermine, circumvent or obstruct the laws, declarations or treaties of the Triumvirate. This force is sanctioned to inflict just punishment in return for or take revenge for, entities who suffer injury or wrongs, to the satisfaction of the Triumvirate.’ unquote.”

“In your opinion, you feel these directives are wrong?” asked the Dr. “No. I believe the CT and those administrating this program, would be better served if Anna 7, performed just one of these operations rather than the two.” Mac placed his hands in the air, as if to ask for more time to expound on his point. Mac also acknowledged the fact that the Triumvirate is so expansive, that law enforcement is very essential to the survival of the Consortium. They agreed the Consortium is huge, covering three galaxies and five or so star systems. Mac pointed out to the Dr. as he read more of the text, “That in order to stop atrocities, blood feuds between species, high crimes, disarmament of rogue regimes and piracy ….aaah, ….I see more examples here. That after much discussion, expressions through non-violent demonstrations, debates…….ah,.. ah, .. I see it .The Congress of the Triumvirate signed into law, powerful ordinances which proclaim that reasonable force may be applied to ensure the safety for all. ” Mac read the whole set of three policies. “Now I agree with the ideology based on these policies. But I’ll move on. To further express my point. You see, Anna is included in the enforcement policies also. “

“This second jurisdiction of authority she has to enforce is to serve in the ‘ Master Enforcement Champion ‘ program.” Dr. Rense kept on responding to Mac non-verbally, as he spoke more. “Anna has her own quadrant within the Congressional zones. Adjacent to my patrol area. Which is fine because we are enlisted in the Imperial Forces as an experimental tandem force But, Anna 7 also executes fugitive investigations, provides protection for CT court system personnel, does prisoner custody and transportation, witness security, asset seizure and of course…. let me see. There it is……ah,…ah,…..The catch all…. Here it is, …’special operations programs.”

Mac just stopped reading the documents and looked at Dr. Rense for some kind of reaction to his objections. Rense smiled, nodded her head and spoke, “I cannot say if these discrepancies you have brought to my attention, and which you perceive, are truly right or wrong. I see what you are saying. It is a lot to do. You feel this is entirely too much. The expectations are so high…so untenable, ….so you believe. Alright. Then, what would you change? What’s your solution? ” Mac went on to explain more, of the changes he would make.

“You do realize, that ANNA 7 is a creation. A machine, robot, a non-humanoid, a 47.7 % representation of the three, Consortium Triumvirate lawfully recognized type of humans. She is the property of the Triumvirate. Which means they will utilize her in whatever type of service they chose. You also know the importance of bringing all these diverse species together under the laws of the CT. Each day the CT moves closer and closer to its goal of unity, for us all. The CT is trying to embrace all the species under its control. That is why it is called the “Triumvirate.”

She paused before moving on, looking for some reaction from Mac. She got it. “Dr.., I am a warrior, in the 22nd Consortium Triumvirate Imperial Forces. I have taken an oath to the Constitution of the CT. All I am saying is this is a lot for one … ah,..ah,.. entity to do.”

Anna 7 continued checking all her weapons systems for the second time. She already checked in with General Ranee. The General had his aid-to-camp explain the logistics of the rescue mission and the other operational assets, who would engage with her at planet Sumohael. The life of the President of Eastern Continental Hemisphere must be saved. But, know since all systems had been checked out over and over again, Anna decided to play some of her music from her file.

Singing aloud, as her cockpit reverberated with the sounds of three songs she chose this time, being played over and over again in a loop. Anna’s sense of anticipation soared. According to her readings on the cockpit instrumentation, her ETA at this rate of parsec travel, had her only 35.3 minutes from the rescue mission site. This music always made her feel great before she went into “an intense situation.” The titles of the music, in the loop she chose this time was “The Duke of Earl “, “Layla “and of course “Wild Boys”.

Why does this music make her feel good?
Why is General Ranee at the 2nd Galaxy Command post?

How Mac answered his questions that Dr. Rense asked during the psyche evaluation, would be just as important as what he said. If he answered with anxiety, depressive responses, evasiveness, anger or with guilt, Dr. Rense must determine with her rapport and her one-on-one interpersonal interaction….. his true clinical status. Then after reviewing her previous records along with other psychological test findings, she could make the recommendations.

“Tell me what do you think of the ANNA 7 program so far? What are your feelings about it? Mac answered with zeal, “What I really like is the music file they programmed her with. It’s almost like a hobby, we both enjoy. The music program is a very detailed history. When you ask the moderator for the background information or a foundation definition of what a phrase means. We both get an explanation about what the story line, in the music is trying to communicate. Then we learn more about the culture of the planet. Does that make sense?” asked Mac gleefully. “Sure. So both of you have fun with it…..do you really? “inquired the Dr. “ Yes! I know it is helpful for her. The music program runs when she is asleep. The whole diagnostic process begins each day, when she receives the latest updates about changes in the laws, declarations and treaties. Helps her body repair and checks her programming every time she enters sleep period too.” “Good. The music program works for you and for ANNA. That’s excellent!”

“Now, tell me more about the feelings you experienced with the program so far. What would you change about the program, if you had the power? Or maybe what options should be added or eliminated. Is this program a success? Tell me what you think.” “What I really think?” “Yes.” “Well, I feel this is all too much for Anna to do.” “Elaborate on those feelings. What makes you feel that way?” “Here we go. I’ve got my introductory information right here, from this six month orientation class. Let’s look at the program. I’ll put the program objectives up on the screen. We can look at them together.” Mac waits patiently, for Dr. Rense to move close enough to him, to view the data on the screen before both of them. Dr. Rense could detect a slight bit of intensity in Mac’s voice as he read the material. What she could not determine at this point, was what type of intensity could it be.

“We’ll read it together,” exclaimed Mac, whose manners quickly moved from the intensity to a calmness that Dr. Rense easily identified. And read it together, they did.

The letter ‘A’ in Anna’s name signifies Analytical. Upon first arriving to an encounter site, Anna must immediately make precise analysis of the facts on the ground. Ascertain, which of the parties, (right or wrong) is most likely to commence the next provocative action and immediately warn that party to cease any further violence. Then at that moment, after all parties within the incident site, have made their conscious choice to either cease hostilities or continue the violence. Anna 7 moves into her next phase of determination.

The first ‘N’ in Anna’s name stands for Nonpareil. The speed, authenticity, along with exceptional quality and quantity of the latest intel on said entitlements, laws, declarations and treaties, regarding her present situation, allows her to make the correct decision, within a split nano second, is unsurpassed. Thus, giving her the freedom to act with extreme prejudice if required, to cease all violence immediately. By this time, as the two of them continued to read aloud, about how Anna should function executing her lawful duties, Dr. Rense sensed the pride and honor Mac emoted while speaking.

The second ‘N’ in the name stood for Neutrality. If whatever actions Anna 7, took came before judicial review, in Consortium court – her acts must be perceived as totally neutral, by all citizens of the Triumvirate. The hope, was that with Anna 7’s programming and being a non-humanoid life-form, her judgment in each encounter could lead to more positive outcomes, as she performed in this police force. It was further perceived a non-humanoid has no ties to the parties involved. And Anna 7 was purposefully created to physically resembled, an individual who looked like a combination of someone whose ancestry could be of the three humanoid types. She only seeks justice, according to 22nd Consortium Triumvirate law.

And finally, the letter ‘A’, the last portion of her prime directive, permitted Anna 7 to be the Aggressor. Mac chose to read this section word for word, to Dr. Rense, “And I quote ‘ exercising extreme force is licensed, to render ineffective by counterbalancing either by modification or destruction, any entities which undermine, circumvent or obstruct the laws, declarations or treaties of the Triumvirate. This force is sanctioned to inflict just punishment in return for or take vengeance for, entities who suffer injury or wrongs, to the satisfaction of the Triumvirate.’ unquote.”

Did Mac go over the top when he asserted his feelings to Dr. Rense?
Is he over protective of Anna 7?

The 3rd Asst Secretary to the Chiefs of State of the 22nd CT, strolled over to the beverage table, refilling her cup, “As for you. I have some advice. In the future , as you move forward establishing our “new “ relationship with our friends at UFC on planet Setarips……who you will be dealing with daily. If at any time you are in a meeting with any of them. Ask yourself. this one question, “How do I know when they are lying to me? The answer is simply this—- when you see their lips are moving!”

Feeling the steady pressure to be a good host, Captain Mac accepted the fact that now he entertained not two, but three inspectors’ on board ship now. Curse this bureaucratic poppy cock on his destroyer. These people were giving him an ass ache. None of these people probably faced any type of battles or warfare in their little field jobs…..they get micro-managed and then they micro-manages us. Paper pushers. “Make sure you sign that part of the form over there. If so, check this block on the screen here……” Mac’s thoughts calmed, “They have their place in the organization. Just not here. On the Blue Sun. Where are these administrators going to be when it gets hot out here? When the enemy attacks blows holes in the ship’s bulkhead, leaving only 12% shield strength on a whole section of the ship – killing or maiming another 43 or so dead at some other fuselage of the Blue Sun! But,” as reasoning flooded his emotional mind again, taking control. “It’s not their job anyway.”

Remembering when he was a young buck private, in the Space Corps working in a fighter squadron as a munitions specialist, he soon realized his desire to work through the ranks. Finally taking the test, Mac got into Officers’ Candidate School, after 11 years in the Corps. He hit ‘ the School” as it was called as a Master Sergeant. Mustanging his way through ‘the School’, by either going around, under or through each obstacle, Mac graduated the top of the class of 310 candidates. He learned a lot along the way, doing the right thing all the time No matter what. Not just when it was convenient.

Mac lived by a few mantras. ‘Respect the rank, even if you don’t respect the person. ‘His favorite of them all was, ‘ If you don’t make it, take bake it or take it. To the battle field. You must be support!’ And Mac had no problem with the support staff. ‘We all need to eat, get fuel and by the blessed beard of the Star Lord. I want my ammo, when I need it.’ However, with all these inspectors with their inspections, Mac had to ask, “Who’s milking this goat?” First the APEX Regulatory Commission, then the BioSyn Tech group and now……. the psyche field representative. Help Me Star Lord! Help Me! Mac wondered how Anna was going to handle all of this when she got here. This surprise field inspection was not supposed to be like this. They were supposed to be at separate intervals. How are they supposed to receive and extrapolate quality responses in this type of visit?

Before he knew it, there he sat before Dr. Hancera Rense, the psychological evaluation administrator…smiling. Dr. Rense and Mac have been rapport building for over eight months, thus their relationship was based on a solid foundation. An hour later, after much Q&A, they arrived at this point, “I have been observing you. I feel you are not happy about this. There is no need for you to be cautious? “Oh really. Good because I am not concerned, angry or panicked. ” “I can see that in you. I don’t see any negative personal traits, disorders or uncommon stressors which could lead to a problem behavior or some condition which could lead to any substandard performance on your part. I’ll tell you what I see. You are highly capable of operating this ship as Captain. You are effective and able to function up to the standards of the department. You also have no residual disabilities despite the situation you experienced with ANNA 6 some time ago.” “Well that’s good Dr. anything else? “ “You’re not late for shifts, don’t seem fatigued or in physical distress, absent-minded or distracted. And there is no evidence of abuse.” “All this sounds good Dr. but there must be something concerning you? What is it?”

By this time, Dr. Rense soth more accuracy of the information she obtained from Mac, to maximize the entire validity of this evaluation. She would know when Mac was faking it. So hoping Mac would do his best and tell the truth, Dr. Rense pressed on. With her goal not to demean or humiliate Mac, even though there were tough questions to be asked, she needed to know what he was feeling. Her behavioral observations of Mac’s body language, eye contact, voice tone and speech content provided useful information. How Mac answered questions would be just as important as what he said. If he answered with anxiety, depressive responses, evasiveness, anger or with guilt, Dr. Rense must determine using her rapport with Mac and her one-on-one interpersonal interaction – his clinical status. Then after reviewing her previous records along with other psychological test findings, she could make the recommendations.

Mac never questioned Anna 7 about what she thought of their tandem program. He wondered why?
What is Anna’s true mission within the Consortium Triumpvirate?

The Dr. stood up without another word, grasping his overnight bag. “I am going up to my room. I will see you two here in the morning. What time will you meet me?” “How about you call me in my room. I’ll meet you down here in the lobby, “stated the nice lady in a most accommodating manner and tone. “Good,” having agreed to declared plans, Dr. Dramaric turned and headed to the front counter to receive the key to his room. “Do not under estimate that man. He is lethal!”

In a conference room, the government representative of the 22nd Consortium Triumvirate, nervously waited for his superior to come in. This 22nd CT, Government Worker, Grade Post 11 – Mr. Janusio Schooks, performed as the government representative to the Uasonirocu Factor Concern, the number one intergalactic military contractor corporation throughout the galaxies, which created the product - ANNA 7. On their location on planet Setarips, Schooks ferried back and forth from the 12 different plants and foundries, presenting and dispatching reports to CT headquarters. Jausio finally made a choice of which chair to sit in. The growing anticipation of the possible subjects that could be discussed at this meeting made him very, very nervous. As the door opened, he knew that all the mysteries would be solved, as his new boss entered the room.

Her name was Latta Taynard. She had the title of, 3rd Assistant Secretary to the Chiefs of State of the 22nd CT. And she had a series troubling topics to elaborate upon with Janusio and others personnel with extremely high security clearances. “Mr. Janusio Schooks, “she paused for effect. “ Congratulations on your new position. I hope you will initiate more effective and efficient methods of tracking the behaviors of our contractors than your predecessor’s. Good Tidings to you.” Janusio smiled politely while 3rd Asst. Secretary spoke up, “I’ll get right to it. Sir. Do you know your immediate goal?” Janusio thought it best to play dumb right now, “No. I do not know 3rd. Asst. Secretary.”

There was more silence for a second. Finally she sat down, but not before starring him down with a determined grin, “Your goal is to find out two things.” “First, how did a super-secret file containing the musical history of a candidate planet, preparing this new world for admission….. and induction into the Consortium…. Get into the hands of this contractor?” More silence. “This file could only be made available from research labs of the Emissary Corps Division of the CT. I cannot tell you how upset the upper elite of our government is. This is a very serious breach of security. The Emissary Corps has agents on the candidate inductee planet, now for over the last twenty years. This breach as far as the CT is concerned, has undoubtedly jeopardized the whole project. The candidate planet is scheduled for induction in the next four or five years. Somebody is going to die, for this screw up!” said Latta, after which she could only sigh – heavily. “Even I did not have clearance to this information until this, this,…. debacle. How could this have happened?” No answers uttered from Schooks lips. “We have found out why they put the file in Anna 7. The researchers at the UFC adapted these music files into an initializing system, which confirms the internal nano circuitry units of Anna, ensuring each day they are deployed correctly. The Concern researchers hard wired Anna’s brain housing group to this music file. When this music is played around her, is sung by her or is discussed anywhere within earshot of her, the music automatically initiates a self-diagnostic program, monitoring the efficiency of her circuits and their output levels. It is useful.”

“It is my understanding that this diagnostic report can be retrieved from her by some method. I don’t know.” Latta looked about for something to drink. She found it on a hospitality table, to the right of her position. She got up from her seat. Pouring herself a drink, she asked Janusio if he would like one and he declined. “This process allows field assessments to be done. Not to mention when she visits the military space ports.” “Yes. I am well aware of those capabilities,” spoke Janusio proudly. Speaking with even more confidence the 3rd Asst Secretary continued, “Everyone’s concern is, Anna 7 is an ultra top secret project. The legal ramifications of the public finding out a non-humanoid entity is enforcing the Imperial laws of the CT, would launch horrific anxiety among the diverse populations within our lawful three recognized humanoid types. Some would demand their civil rights have been violated according to CT treaties and statutes now on the books. No one can know she is well under 50% humanoid,” added the 3rd Secretary intensely. “No one!”

“This is the second mission you must fully embrace and engage. Find the answers — somehow! Find out the source of the leaks. We have major, major leaks involving these high security mission projects within the CT. Many higher ranking personnel above me are literally looking for some people to be removed for this. I mean right now! And I mean quick, fast and in a hurry!! 22nd CT security agencies, all four branches are all over this.”

Latta strolled over, pouring more beverage into her container. “As for you. I have some advice. In the future, as you move forward establishing our “new” relationship with our friends at UFC, on planet Setarips. Who - you will be dealing with daily. If at any time you are in a meeting with any of them. Ask yourself, this one question, ‘How do I know when they are lying to me? The answer is simply this – when you see their lips are moving!!’

There was a knock on the door, “Ah, my next guest. Make room. We’ll be here for awhile, “quipped Latta.

Who else will Mr. Janusio Schooks meet today along with 3rd Secretary Taynard?
3rd Secretary Taynard wondered if this new government rep for the Uasonirocu Factor Concern was up to the task?

Anna 7 wasted no time. Eighteen point seven seconds later, Anna 7 was already two vectors away, from her previous location on the top of the hill top – now she was flashing forward to the planet Sumohael, in the Huke star system.

Sipping an extraordinary glass of Nardorian wine, as the deep green elixir soothed the tall, gaunt gentleman dressed immaculately in a dark blue suit, trimmed in silver pin strip. His well coiffed long light brown hair with a smattering of golden streaks, brought even more attention to his slightly ruddy complexion. Moments ago he descended from the steps of the public transportation vehicle. He had just arrived from another planet, which he visited earlier in the day. Sitting now in the lobby of a luxurious hotel, Dr. Dramaric waited for his next set of business acquaintances to arrive.

While patrons, servers and other hotel personnel scurried about, Dr. Dramaric reexamined the texture of the fine upholstered lounging chairs right across from him. They looked as if they may be as comfortable as the one he sat in now. The Dr. loved to admire the different styles of furniture in each interstellar city he visited. He found the form and function of their furniture design reflected certain attributes of the early folkways life styles of the inhabitance.

The server working the lobby area brought Dr. Dramaric another glass of wine. The Dr. thanked him and tipped again right there on the spot, ensuring promptness of continued service. Reaching down, he glanced at his book in the flap of his overnight bag; he wondered how late these industrious errand lackeys would be. Opening the book, he began to read. He knew they had three minutes to get there before they would be tardy. The Dr. despises late people.

Before he could get into this reading real good, a man and a woman approached him, smiling, their silly smiles he disliked also. So he did the same back to them, but with an even more ridicules smile. Here they were… late and standing there with those unacceptable smiles too. This meeting started off great. Both of them were dressed in the finest business apparel of the day. The lady wore yellow and the man wore light gray. The Dr. thought they looked sooo gooood together in their little suits. As Dr. Dramaric motioned for each of them to take a seat across from him, the server quickly reappeared. Turning to the female first the Dr. asked, “Would you like some wine or other beverage? “ “We will have what you are having, “spoke the lady with an all knowing type of savvy. Off the server went, grinning in anticipation of another tip. Both parties exchanged credentials and business cards.

Easing down into their seats, the man inquired, “How was your flight from Raiszom to our planet.” “Very pleasant.” “Have you ever been to this wonderful resort city of Lillion before?” the male asked. The wine arrived. After placing the glasses before each person, Dramaric tipped the server once again. “Once before with my parents. Long long ago. When we traveled from world to world and it was not nearly as comfortable or quick.” “Do you live here?” the Dr. asked. “No.” “Good, “ the Dr. replied with visible disdain. The young lady put her empty glass down on the elegant three-legged lounge table. “Well, you finished that glass of wine quickly.” “I was motivated by the taste. I want more. That was an excellent choice. What was it?” “Nardorian.”

Dr. Dramaric ceased with the peasantries, ready to get down to business, “Which one of you will be giving me the plans and escorting me to the reservoirs tomorrow? “ “That would be me, Dr.” responded the lady with a seductive smile. “Good. Very good. ” “Here are the plans you requested showing the pipelines where the reservoir water exits the complex to the other cities. We can drive out there and…” “We are not driving out anywhere, “exclaimed the Dr. adamantly cutting off the male businessman in mid-sentence. “ We will take the tour to the complex with the visiting public in the morning. I do not want the plans until the morning. If I get them now it will ruin my night of reading I have planned. Make sure you two dress like tourist. There will be no time to dally around. I have to be on the other side of this world by late tomorrow night for dinner.” The Dr. stood up without another word, grasping his overnight bag. “I am going up to my room now. I will see you two in the morning. What time will you meet me?” “How about you call me in my room and I’ll meet you down here in the lobby,” stated the lady. “Good,” having declared his plans, Dr Dramaric turned and headed to the front counter to receive the key to his room.

“He is a real nice guy, “remarked the man to his lady associate, being as totally facetious as possible. “ Do not. Whatever you do, make him mad at you. And do not. Under estimate him. He is lethal.”

Who is Dr. Dramaric going to meet for dinner tomorrow?
What does the nice lady business associate know about Dr. Dramaric that her co temporary doesn’t?

The deep space racers fight it out, as they slash into the void, screaming to the finish line at the end of a star system – coming in hot!

The 22nd CT engineers left no doubt, that Vigor would be a very, nimble war machine. Her accouterments included a unique set of ten rotating motors, mounted in strategic locations on the ship. Two of the powerful motors were mounted on the top of the bow of the gunship. The location of the other eight motors operated flawlessly, with four below the fuselage mid line and four above. The special Bactzac motors provided 360 degree rotation for the Pierce 913. If Anna chose to slow down her flight in mid air, she could still move forward or backward in a controlled spin. Or the Pierce 913 could hover at any angle - the bow down and with the stern up or vice versa.

Working in concert with the ten Bactzac motors, the maser control target system permitted Anna 7 to track three multiple targets simultaneously (two primary and one secondary) with sequence firing resolutions included, even as the desired targets crossed various viewing arrays. More firepower upon firepower, originates with two sets of dual self-acting cannons, crushing shields with projectile casings, filled with explosives. The projectile casings, when fired from the cannons are made of plasma Balmer hydrogen, in arc lines, filled with relazantium #3 or as the CT researchers named it, the “O6 Factor”.

Borrowing a page out of nature’s own handbook, nano and syn/bio engineers collaborated with 22nd CT scientific munition experts, developing weapons based on the theory of free radicals. Free radicals are a collection of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons that when engaged with oxygen interacts with certain molecules, initiating a chain reaction of damage, like dominoes. After invading the cell walls, the free radicals destroy the important cellular components including the DNA found within cells.

Relazantium #3 or O6 factor which the CT researchers produced in their labs was an equivalent to the free radical model of nature, within this weapons system. O6 material in its natural state is actually a classification of stars with the hottest cores found in the universe. These cores are partially composed of prominent ionized elements. O6 Factor is actually composed of Silicon IV, Oxygen III, Nitrogen III and Carbon III, with a dash of super microwaved deuterium-tritium to hold it all together, as it speeds through the vacuum that is the void of space. Encased in a plasma bolt of radical hydrogen moving in straight lines at the speed of sub light, the projectile slams into the target ejecting free radicalized O6 Factor liken to a molten gel on any surface, simply gobbling up the protons of everything. Death! Death! Death! Hell of a bullet.

Other armament on Vigor included 10 mega claw torpedoes, 20 red bolt disruptor cartridges with erosion tips, which could be fired from Raxa double bore rifles, one mounted front and two others in the rear. With limited bomb options, the 913 could only successfully deployed three giga-volt bombs. The shield strength though very sturdy and idyllic in dog fights gunship to gunship, it was only able to take several hits from a class 6 or 7 size NOVA Destroyer. But one or two hits from a CT size battleship would mean disaster. The 913 had a stealth package which made the ship’s electronic signature appear to be bigger if need be to fool an aggressor.

The one thing Anna really enjoyed about entering combat with all her weapons at her disposal, had to be the Pierce 913’s forward profile. When she suddenly flashed into attack mode, firing all she had, Anna loved to terrify the enemy coming in “low and lean, squat and smoking gun hot.”

She slipped into door of Vigor, easing herself sensuously into the sleekness that was the cockpit of her ship. Anna spoke warmly to the on board computer. Instantly, the instrumentation displays danced about like fairies in the meadow during a full moon lit night. Vigor answered back in her silky, sexy voice oozing a certain amount of confidence, “Anna.” “Yes” “You have a message.” “I do,” responded Anna looking down at her own com device and sure enough there was a message. The message was from Lt. Inspector General Ranee from the 3rd Galaxy Imperial Expeditionary Forces. “Vigor. Retrieve and play message.” On the viewing screen appeared the General at a table with other officers, with the great seal of the 22nd Consortium Triumvirate in the back ground.

“Anna 7. Upon receipt of this communication, you will immediately proceed to the planet Sumohael in the Huke star system. You will act as a support unit aiding the recovery and ensure the bodily safety of the Eastern Continental President, his family and the members of his Royal Cabinet staff and their families. We have just received intel that a coup will commence within four to five hours. You are one of the few assets we have in the star system zone. You will be joined with other assets in the area to complete this mission. When you are within direct communication horizon with our headquarters – check in for further directives. General Ranee, Out.”

Anna 7 wasted no time. Eighteen point seven seconds later, Anna 7 was already seventy-two vectors away, from her previous location on the hill top – now she was flashing forward to the planet Sumohael, in the Huke star system.

What will Anna 7 encounter on planet Sumohael?
Who are the other assets joining Anna 7 at the ‘objective’ on Sumohael?

Anna 7 spoke to the rookie galactic marshal Russert, “Besides, I am supposed to rendezvous with Mac at the Blue Sun, by late tomorrow. And I have got to get a good look at the messages on this communicator before then and put it in evidence. I know this is important. It’s got to do something with the bombings in Lillion. I know it does. “Anna 7 turned away, jogging up the hill toward her ship. But not before she put the device in an evidence bag, in a small back pack, as she placed it on her back. “I can’t wait to examine this.”

“I am so hungry, “Anna 7 said to herself, walking up the hill, just below her ship. Finally, reaching the crest of the hill, Anna checked her communicator device for messages. Nothing from Mac. Earlier, she decided that a message from Mac would be her highest priority. She did not feel like talking to anyone else. But she had to. It was her job to communicate to her subordinates, contemporaries and superiors. Moving along stepping over the grasses, various types of wild flowers, small trees and all the little animals trying to live their lives in their environment, Anna kept feeling real emotional. About anything and everything. These feelings grabbed her in her gut. “I have to stop and eat right now.”

Anna gently placed her hand in the pocket, on the back side of her waist belt, examining the grasses before her with the beautiful little bulbs at the end of each blade of yellowish blue tinted grass. There was a little soil still on some of the grass locate down by the bulb ends, so she just munched on the upper greens to satisfy her hunger. “This is soooo gooood,”as Anna continued to eat the stalks until at last she crunched down on the first delicious bulb of the wild onion. Anna moved steadily up the top of the hill - grinning.

From her new vantage point, Anna observed Heas’ pirate vessel rising up through the cloudless sky, probably heading to the impound station at the Marshall headquarters to be thoroughly searched. The rest of the team, which included the marshals, deputy marshall’s and prisoner transport staff finished the work required to properly close out a crime scene. Deep down inside Anna wished she had enough time to further cultivate her relationship with Heas, but she had to move on. She crushed the last tender bulb in her mouth, tasting the still outrageous sweetness of the grass. Anna needed to get a drink from her ship, just a few paces in front of her, as a wave of elation welled through her. Anna sighed happily.

Anna reached out, embracing the smoothness of her ship, like a lover returned from years of separation. It was the color of champagne, with bold yellow and black highlights, which began at mid-body ending at the rounded contours of the back. Its looks did not change much over the last seventy-three years but its subtle improvements during this time period made all the difference. She called her ship, “ VIGOR “.

Vigor is an unusual hybrid space ship, custom manufactured for Anna by the Consortium’s Imperial Forces, financed and fabricated by their industrial military complex’s weapons division - as a one person ’support vehicle gunship’. The origin of this machine rose from the legendary vehicles known as, ‘ star racers’. The star racers began as speedy space craft running small loads of very expensive black market goods from one end of a star system to another. Trying to out run any and all types of authorities and rogue pirates seeking their goods, the drivers improved the performance of these racers throughout the years. These wide open blockade runners rose to become known as “folk heroes” to the locals and other residence who benefited from revenues generated by these criminals. .

With value established in the populous of many, many star systems, legitimization slowly prospered toward the participants in this very dangerous occupation. At first it started out as local racing from one planet to another, then from one star system to another. Then the introduction of major gambling entered the equation, along with a rule that these “organized” races, would only be conventional racing only - no parsec jumping allowed. These extraordinary races infused the emotional senses of all kinds of interplanetary residents, crossing all socio-economic stratifications including off-world species fans. These interplanetary residents witnessed and followed the races by whatever low or high tech underground devices allowed to them while enraged, howling announcers, called the racing action throughout each contest, on bogus and illegal pirate broadcasting systems.

As the enthusiasm continued to grow from the working class to the idle rich, a racing circuit rose. Whether these people who propelled this underground source of excitement, did so because they were opportunistic, bright-eyed idealist or greedy, overzealous business people, they all soth the means to make the races happen and expand to other star systems. The romantic and sometimes tragic exploits of the individuals who drove the racers, finally garnered the support of lawmakers pedaling their influence in the courts of each star system. Besides, the money involved in this race phenomenon, over took everyone and everything where the race occurred, resulted in the “sport” exploding into fruition. Then there was the celebrity of the race drivers themselves. Everyone wanted to see or be seen with them, collect items from the racers’ and drive cars similar to their favorite types of racers. Soon there existed collectors who owned and maintained a racer or two, if they had enough credits.

Anna’s hybrid vehicle was produced by the famous and well respected Pierce Company Unlimited, the 913 series. The 913 descended from earlier models of the 900 series. The CT Imperial Forces engineers chose the Arerrac S series design for Anna 7 to pilot, but most aficionados simply called it, the Pierce 913. Anna 7’s hybridized design, though considerably larger, still turned heads. This model shaping and design of the Pierce 913, inspired the C T engineers to create their own version. Their war machine emerged as an interceptor gunship, with limited bomber capability.

With a top speed of 188 vph ( vectors per hour ), the top line Arerrac S series, is said to take as little as 3.1 seconds to flash from 0 to 80 vph. The secret is the 913’s new oval 24 – Engorger engine. Its fuel is liquidized, enriched gel tablets of finely ground Gex jewels, which when ignited by argon masers, along with the light mass elements of the attractant dark matter particles. All these ingredients ignite also when rammed through the firing chamber, producing under sub light propulsion output. But these engine proponents represented only half of the drive system. The other portion of the drive system incorporated the improved heavy mass injector converters, featuring new and fewer internal engine enrichment components.

The celebrated racing heritage of the Pierce Company, did not advance without paying the sobering price of death. The space racing drivers, tried to reach the outer limits of their machines. The 900 robust engine design, outpaced the technology of the cockpit instrumentation, driver restraint safety systems and the physical limitations of the drivers’ bodies. The Pierce 905 J series, made the now infamous Sholgaenta Intergalactic Run, setting three racing records, during the race. The Pierce 905 racing team utilized the racing association’s sanctioned six drivers, one at each exchange station and the four authorized Thelby engines attached to quadmount frames.

The quadmount frames are simply, four mounted Thelby deep space racing engines mounted on solid state frames. The race pilot drives the racer inside the quadmount frame, initiating electron bonded auto-lock mechanisms. Simultaneously from above the race drivers exchange places in the cockpit, safely lock down and the Thelby engines fire. According to racing regulations, the last portion of the race is completed without the aid of Thelby deep space engines. The racers fight it out. Slashing into the void, to the finish line at the end of a star system - coming in hot.

”When am I going to eat regular again?” asked a starving Anna 7.
“Why did I eat those bulbs without washing them? I have got to stop that. I’m gonna get caught.”

The Commander walked in. The inspectors promptly stood up from their computer work stations, acknowledging his presence, as the captain of the battle cruiser Blue Sun. Mac motioned for them to take their seats .He assumed the seat at the head of the table before him. The session began.

Meanwhile, two female APEX Energies Regulatory Commission inspectors, supped on four small plates of assorted apps and sipped the last of their beverages. Looking out of the giant observation window section of the ship’s bar and lounge. Both of them tried to let the pressures of the day, slide off like a thick pat of butter on a stack of hot cakes. One of the young ladies got the bartender’s attention ordering another round of drinks, as her partner spills the last of her alcoholic drink, on her insignia laden uniform pant suit. Strangely enough, simultaneously each inspector thought to themselves, ‘how stupid they were to wear their company uniforms upstairs to the lounge. “So Kaesta…a, a, … tell me the deal again about the Captain,” as she tried very hard to get the handle of the new drink, that her associate brought to her, with her voice commencing to slur even more.

Rotalger spoke with confidence. She was the more graceful and larger of the two ladies, with the silver streaks in bright green hair. But first, she picked out another morsel to chomp on. Her friend waits patiently for the story, “It seems that Anna 6, like I said before.” She paused, taking a breath, trying to suppress an upcoming burp, “Got killed in a non-combat exercise, that turned into an ambush of some sort. Captain Maeconezs was, as he is now, the project liaison officer slash tandem man…… You know. Whatever his job is … with her.” “Her who?” Anna 6. Dummy!” “Oh. I got it” “Good for you,” taking big gulp of her drink after smarting off to her buddy. “How many drinks have you had?” “I got here before you did and I had a couple.” “I got nothing to say to you.” “Yes you do. Finish the story.” Rotalger sighed, then began again, “The Captain blamed himself for the death. He took it real, real, hard. Everyone on Anna 6’s ship also died. Some staff on this ship too! Had to leave the destroyer for awhile. Faced a couple of review boards, emo-docs, counseling and another review. Now he’s back. Been back for a year and a half now.” “Wow.”

Anna 7 glimpsed at the deputy investigators, scurrying about with other armed officials, aiding in the securing of all of Heas’s pirate gang into the prisoner ship. As Heas headed up the gangplank to be secured into his cell, aboard the prisoner transport ship, he waved to Anna 7. She nodded her head in a positive manner toward him. A few of the investigators pursued their interrogations of one or two of the gang members, while other Marshall’s examined evidence on board the pirate ship. Everyone proceeded along performing their duties, when Anna caught sight of a rookie deputy marshal heading her way. She knew exactly what this conversation topic would be, as he strode very purposely to her with the barrel of his weapon pointing ground ward.

“Why didn’t you handcuff those felons like you taught me? You said I should always do the cuffing myself, just in case they didn’t do it correctly and jump me? ” asked Russert, who was assigned as Anna 7’s back up, assisting as her sniper far, far away during the arrest by the creek, where she apprehended Heas’s gang. Russert smoked one of the two dead pirate gang members on the top of the ravine, when Anna approached Heas’ men at his pirate ship. “I knew you were there and you would not let anything happen to me,” Anna smiled confidently. She walked off from him and the rest of his team. “ Listen. I cannot stand around here and get lectured by you. When I’m the one who taught you, not to do anything like that in the first place.”

Anna 7 walked off to her vehicle hidden about half a mile away from the valley arrest site, on the other side of the creek. She reversed her direction, turning around to say to Russert, “Besides. I am suppose to rendezvous with Mac at the Blue Sun, by late tomorrow. And I have got to get a good look at the message on this communicator before then and put it in evidence. I know this is important. It’s got to do something with the bombings in Lillion. I know it does.” Anna 7 began to jog up the hill toward her ship. But not before she put the comm device in an evidence bag, in a small back pack, as she placed it through her arms, to its rightful place on her back. “I can’t wait to examine this.”

Anna questioned if there was evidence in Heas’ communication device held any connection to the death of defense lawyer Gaver Zauger?
Anna debated why were the bombs taken to the city of Lillion in the first place?

Looking back to see if the coup forces pursued them, Sgt. Roopgly smiled. Melting into the obscurity the forest presented to all, the Commandant’s saboteurs, with their weapons clutched tightly in soiled bruised hands, glanced back to the flames , dust, and falling debris littering their recent tomb. Commenting somberly, as he jumped into the brush growing along the descending banks of a fast flowing creek, Sgt Roopgly said, “ We are all headed home ….. Sir!”

Who is the individual that is most important to you? What is that something special that is most important to you? We all feel. We all feel, that there are individuals in our life who, if they left us….. our life would end. And there are some things, opinions, sentiments and ideologies which transcend the plane of being important. As humanoids we internalize the environment surrounding us. It is in our nature, to support and protect that, which is important to us. Given the opportunity or the ability to deal with a situation effectively, humanoids harvest the resources aiding them” to guard our prizes “. We all have certain amounts of resources at our disposal, which are either scarce or in abundance. These resources or lack thereof, may come in the form of a home, equipment, access to monies, knowledge, source of employment, reliable transportation, medical remedies and protection. Of course, there are many more to mention. However, out there in the immense universe, in the world of Anna 7, there exist one formal organization whose sole purpose is to control and utilize this most important resource of all. That is time. Time is the resource we all abuse and then lose. But when it is lost, it can never be reclaimed.

The 22nd Consortium Triumvirate is focused on ‘ the use of its time’. The history of the Consortium began with the abuse of every living man, woman and child, regardless of humanoid origin. Like all revolutions it commenced with ‘ the haves ‘ sticking to ‘ the have nots ‘……..in a real big way. The intolerance of business CEO”s, CCO’s and their like, had long earned the unwanted attention of economist, who always played third fiddle to the sorry actions taken by those great titans of industry. The economist observed for centuries the maligned execution of the top leaders, operating mega-stellar companies, fumbling about with their friends and their like-thinking cousins in government. The populist cried out for accountability. But the inabilities of these unconcerned louts rolled on, committing debacles after debacle of ineptitude and selfishness. The people in the streets and in organizations crying like deserted babes in the woods, turned to groups of very vocal economist for affirmation. The people sensed this attitude of these titans of interstellar industry heading in the wrong direction.

The economist revolted. The revolt began slowly but steadily as the omissions of the two aforementioned parties, actually reached an all time high with even the common man. Sick and tired of their public servants not doing their jobs, the populist proudly listed their discrepancies: no due diligence, which is an ingredient for success in project management; no use of critical thinking throughout the processes and when these idiots formulated ‘ their wonderful ideas ‘, they under funded these projects. These brilliant government servants also did not allowed enough time for proper inspection during construction. These are the discrepancies the Presidential commissioned review board found, while investigating the fourth mining disaster on an asteroid extraction operation which cost the lives of 535 miners and their families. One surviving family member was quoted outside the official government inquiry room saying, “ These fat cats didn’t even follow up on the construction of the ventilation shafts in the mines, much less the families homes! Who knew they were connected? …… Those bastards should have!”

The mourning public besieged the various kinds of interplanetary media outlets, exclaiming the shame and anger of this incident and others like this across the star systems in the galaxy. The leading economists, now speaking in force, eagerly addressed and questioned the ethics and the lack of forethought the executives in charge of these projects failed to perform. At that the same time, the movement among the economist picked up pace. Everyone stood up, sickened by inefficiency. These feelings of dread thrived throughout all the three kinds of humanoids, who experienced the same disgustful practices among their government administrators and the supposed business-savvy managers ruling on their respective planets.

Reaping in their big time salaries and bonuses at the expense of their workers safety and welfare, the outraged public’s sentiments…. fueled the fires of dissent toward those perceived as the corporate elite. As in eons past, the young intelligentsia decried and carried the banners of injustice in protest, for all to see regarding the interstellar industrial atrocities. Whether these debacles happened in the mines of asteroids spinning about in the voids of space or workers gathering highly prized animal excrement from sea caves in minus 245 degrees environments, on the water worlds of the Rettiwtado star system.

Having developed a power base with an ideal platform, from which to speak from, the ‘efficiency economist ‘ or the E2’s as they were called, hit all the media outlets and talk shows, discussing their themes. The E2’s at first, were ignored by the early stellar business/government professionals and scholars of commercial acumen still creeping about, like insects milling about on the floor of a filthy donut shop. However, time is a strange thing. It may heal all wounds but it can also rip a scab off a festering wound too, if its rubbed wrong — or is that right?

Feeling the tide turn against them, as the disgust displayed from the populist loomed over all the lords of space commerce, like the sword of Damocles, these power merchants sensed the worst coming. The brave economist scholars lectured on the failures of business leadership in the space industry genre. This became acerbated by several more large grievous industrial ‘accidents’, resulting in the deaths of several thousands residential family members and workers. The shame of failed ventures, burst forth a rancor of monstrous portions as the cost reached approximately eight hundred trillion of monetary units, in just one incident alone.

Even after that tragic situation, no executive owned up to that mess ….. no real admission of guilt. As if the situation could not get worst, the first industrial, multi-humanoid project disaster, claimed many, many, lives of the assorted citizenry. Desperate to hold somebody responsible and totally accountable for those unfortunate deaths, the assorted citizenry discovered that, the regular recourse of law and justice found in abundance on the surface of the planets, did not apply in the coldest reaches in the void of space, where the laws of their planetary homelands again respectively fell short….literally. Corporate law and the enforcement of industrial rules and regulations, just did not seem important to anyone in power, to make things right.

The origins of this atmosphere of industrial permissiveness came from the leading governments across the star systems leading in the space race. The governments allowed the risky ventures into space in the name of the greed and vanity. The government literally had their hands in the till of business, while turning a blind eye to the recklessness, while grinning like pigs with new slop in the trough, on a sunny day.

Societal disparities continued, perceptions of unfairness grumbled deep in the gut of those whose families tragically effected by mismanagement of projects As history would prove, the failure of management to react positively to their collective failures, would come back to bite them all in the ass. Finally, ready to take the plunge into admitting these E2’s were on to something concrete and substantial, a growing group of those seeking corporate and government justice, took advantage of this timely turn of positive energy, fortifying the E2 movement. The economically minded reformers continued to turn up the heat on their rhetoric, nagging the inept masterminds of government projects along with their paid for think tank endorsing spokesmen. Their battle hymns hammered the theme stating, “….. business professionals must strive for the balance, seeking “ humanity “, with all its aspects vs. increases to the bottom line. “ Not satisfied with the latest methods of exclaiming the desires of the movement, the most influential of the E2’s leaders screaming for change. They authored a treatise , called “ Matters for Consideration: Competency Failures of Intra-Stellar Industries “.

Will the efficiency economist movementsurvive?
What principles of credibility will the E2 Treatise extrapolate upon?
